Welcome to the first edition of the Palo Pinto Press

According to an ongoing report on the state of local news from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, the United States is losing newspapers at the rate of two per week, creating news vacuums in struggling communities. And, in areas without a strong print or digital news organization, voter participation decreases and corruption increases.

New Newspaper: Pulse of the Community

Throughout the last decade, general trust in prominent media outlets has declined significantly, and only 35% of Americans believe that those reporting the news care about the people or circumstances on which they report. As the divide between the media, and citizen trust widens, the quality work of community- focused news organizations tends to be overlooked.

Mineral Wells Highlights

First, I would like to welcome the Palo Pinto Press to our city of heritage, hospitality, and hope! It is exciting to have more local media covering local issues and I know there are many of us that have tremendously missed a good “old-fashioned” print newspaper. School is back in session, the weather has cooled off a bit and it’s a great time to be a citizen of Mineral Wells. Go Rams and Go Warriors!
